Girls Exploring Trades and Technology

Girls Exploring Trades and Technology introduces girls ages 12-14 to applied skills and technology careers and encourages them to consider a variety of career choices. The Girls Exploring Trades and Technology summer camp reinforces the importance of taking science, advanced math subjects and industrial arts in high school by stressing the impact those subjects have on career decisions.
This age is an important time for girls because they begin to make course decisions that affect future career choices. Girls Exploring Trades and Technology offers participants a unique opportunity to consider a variety of careers in an active, enjoyable summer camp program. There is no cost for participants due to the generous support of the Canerector Foundation.
Goals
The Girls Exploring Trades and Technology camp program intends to:
- Introduce girls to trades as viable career choices, including carpentry, sheet metal, piping, welding, robotics, and automotive trades, in a fun-filled and supportive camp.
- Introduce girls to non-traditional trades career choices in a fun-filled and supportive camp.
- Develop an awareness of the importance of course choices at the high school level.
- Promote the importance of career awareness and participation.
- Foster an appreciation of physical fitness and strength needed in all occupations.
- Introduce participants to women actively engaged in a variety of occupations.
Camp Dates and Location
Dates
- Week 1: July 2 – 5, 2024 (Tuesday – Friday)
- Week 2: July 8 – 12, 2024 (Monday – Friday)
- Week 3: July 15 – 19, 2024 (Monday – Friday)
Time
Theme programming runs between 9am – 4pm, with flexible drop-off & pick-up times.
- Drop-Off: Between 8am – 9am
- Pick-Up: Between 4pm – 5pm

Cost
Free! All materials and equipment are provided at no cost to campers due to the generous support of the Canerector Foundation.
Lunch
This camp includes lunch and snacks. Campers are also welcome to bring food if they’d like. Supervision over the lunch hour will be provided.
Our Staff
Camp Leaders from Campus Well-Being who are trained in youth engagement and various safety protocols will guide the campers throughout their day. Campers will engage in hands-on learning with our dedicated and skilled staff.
Accommodations / Transportation
Important: This is a day camp only and RRC Polytech does not supply accommodations or transportation for campers.
All accommodations in Winnipeg as well as transportation to and from the camp daily is the responsibility of the camper and her parent/guardian.
