If you are a student with a diagnosed disability and want to develop a plan to receive accommodations, your first step is to make an appointment with an Accessibility Specialist.
Accommodations are determined on an individual basis. When meeting one-on-one with an Accessibility Specialist you can discuss how your disability might impact you at college, review your documentation, and look at the different types of accommodations that are available to you.
Accessibility Specialists can help develop your accommodation plan with you and refer you to others services in Student Support Services to implement your plan. Accessibility Specialists are also available to meet with you regularly to monitor the effectiveness of your plan.
To make sure your accommodations are ready for the start of your program, it’s always best to meet with an Accessibility Specialist before you start your program. If this isn’t possible, make sure you make an appointment as soon as possible, as accommodation plans take time to develop and implement.
RRC Polytech has developed an easy to follow handbook for students registered with Student Accessibility Services.
This handbook provides an overview of RRC Polytech’s commitment to students with disabilities, your rights as well as responsibilities in receiving accommodations, and the various accommodations that may be available to you.
RRC Polytech campuses are located on the lands of Anishinaabe, Ininiwak, Anishininew, Dakota, and Dené, and the National Homeland of the Red River Métis.
