Information security is a rapidly evolving field that centres around activities related to storing, transferring, communicating and managing information in an efficient and secure manner. Professionals with information security knowledge typically have experience in other information technology disciplines, such as application development and networking.
We’re providing opportunities for Information Security students to put their newly acquired information security design and management skills into practice.
By incorporating security practices into industry projects at the ACE Project Space, clients and entrepreneurs are able to design and embed security throughout their applications and business processes. Clients can then provide customers with the peace of mind that information security best practices are being followed to ensure their private and confidential information is secure from outside threats yet accessible when needed.
Our Information Security students and faculty have the skills to design, test and deploy information security solutions for applications, networks and business processes implemented across entire organizations.
Students are trained in information security design, management, implementation and operations. Information Security students add value at any stage of a project where privacy and confidentiality are key considerations. They employ programming and networking skills to test the security robustness of selected applications and networking environments. If an information security vulnerability is found, our students can reduce the risk of a security breach. If an information security incident occurs, our students are trained to take appropriate incident response measures, perform a forensic analysis and create a risk mitigation plan.
Our faculty have extensive industry experience in delivering information security solutions across the enterprise and have recognized industry certifications, including CRISC, CISSP, CISM and CISA designations.
The ACE Project Space offers Information Security students a live network environment used by entrepreneurs in residence, visitors, faculty, support staff and other Applied Computer Education students. When applicable, Information Security students working offsite are subject to the environment of their assigned client organization.
