At the ACE Project Space, we’re committed to providing students with a learning environment that allows them to rapidly hone and showcase their newly developed application development skills through the entire agile software development lifecycle.
At the start of every term at the ACE Project Space, students are placed into project teams and begin interacting with clients immediately.
Students are exposed to just-in-time learning and are required to develop skills in variations of an application development stack typically including React, Meteor, MongoDB and Cypress. Students work through sprints with their clients and apply their problem-solving and programming skills by continuously developing and testing new application features.
Students and clients of the space benefit from having a hands-on and faculty-guided working environment that encourages continuous innovation and provides access to technologies that are becoming more mainstream such as virtual reality, machine learning and 3D printing.
Our Business Information Technology (BIT) students and faculty have the skills and processes to ensure applications are developed professionally and are easily maintainable by feature teams.
Our BIT students are the specialized development leads on client projects at the ACE Project Space with support from our Business Technology Management (BTM) students. All students regardless of their program of study have basic level programming knowledge before coming to the space. All students are trained to adapt their programming skills to other programming languages and can utilize those skills in other languages when required.
Business Information Technology faculty and educational assistants are available everyday, ensuring all application developers at the ACE Project Space have the support they need to succeed. Our faculty is always researching trends in programming languages, design patterns and more to provide students with the latest tools and methodologies that employers are looking for and add value to their development projects.
We have the technology needed to support our students and clients creating many types of development projects.
For all projects, the ACE Project Space offers students and clients WiFi access points, Webex boards and meeting rooms, providing teams with a real collaborative working environment similar to other open plan environments out in the workplace. In addition, we have Logitech cameras, virtual reality (VR) headsets, Raspberry Pi devices and High Performance Computing (HPC) systems for interdisciplinary projects. At our space, we have the technology to make everyone productive from day one.
