Did You Know? We’ve Used Bio-Fuel to Reduce College Waste

With the April 4 College Applied Research Development Fund (CARD) application deadline fast approaching, here is the third installment of our “Did You Know” series to highlight some of the projects made possible with CARD support.
Mike Myrowich initiated a CARD-funded bio-fuel project in 2010 for the purpose of reducing waste produced by the College.

New Federal Green Infrastructure Funding Available

Natural Resources Canada have launched three new programs and are now accepting proposals. 
Smart Grid Program
The Smart Grid Programs request for proposals is now open. To receive the Applicant Guide and Proposal Template, please visit the NRC website HERE.
Before you begin the process, please check the section on program eligibility in the Guide. The deadline to submit your proposal is March 4, 2018 at 23:59 EST.
Energy Efficient Buildings Research, Development and Demonstration
The Energy Efficient Buildings RD&D program aims to increase energy efficiency and address climate change by improving how our homes and buildings are designed, renovated, and constructed.

Emerging Renewable Power Program
The Emerging Renewable Power Program (ERPP) was launched this January, 2018. The Program provides up to $200 million to expand the portfolio of commercially viable renewable energy sources available to provinces and territories as they work to reduce GHG emissions from their electricity sectors.
The program will provide up front support for renewable power projects using technologies that have not yet been commercially established in Canada at the utility scale, such as geothermal, tidal, and offshore wind.

THE $200K CHALLENGE IS A GLOBAL COMPETITION FOR EARLY-STAGE MEDICAL DEVICE AND BIOTECH STARTUPS.

Green Jobs – Science and Technology Internship Program Funding Available!

The Green Jobs – Science and Technology Internship Program is a federal program that provides funding to organizations, businesses and institutions to hire post-secondary graduates in the natural resource sectors in a science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) field. This helps young graduates to gain relevant and meaningful work experience within their field of study.
Hiring organizations can receive a contribution payment for up to 50% of the intern’s salary to a maximum of $15,000 for a 6-12 month internship. Read More →
