Dr. Jolen Galaugher, Director, Research Partnerships and Innovation, RRC Polytech

Jolen Galaugher is a leader, an innovator, a business development professional, and a connector of people and organizations.

As the Director of Research Partnerships and Innovation at RRC Polytech, Jolen leads a cross-institutional applied research enterprise, including NSERC Technology Access Centers: Aerospace and Advanced Manufacturing, Building Efficiency, Prairie Research Kitchen, as well as the Vehicle Technology and Energy Center, and other Centers and programmatic areas of excellence. Jolen leads a department of 50 people, including several research chairs, with applied research revenue of about $7.5M annually. She has initiated the implementation of First Nations principles of ownership, control, access, and possession of data and Indigenous perspectives in research at RRC Polytech.

With a doctorate from McMaster University, as well as leadership and management training from Harvard Business School, Jolen has extensive expertise in research commercialization and industry partnered and applied research and has led research innovation and commercialization advisory committees and developed new research innovation funding programs. Jolen promotes the development of high value and sustainable strategic partnerships in diverse industry sectors to create win-win outcomes.

Jolen has been a strong advocate for knowledge translation and commercialization of research, both at RRC Polytech and in her previous role as Director of Science Innovation at the Faculty of Science at the University of Manitoba.
