SPEAKERS

Amber Hicks coordinates the RINT Project, a federally funded program at REES in Winnipeg that helps clients with physical disabilities and/or health conditions and employers create sustainable and inclusive work environments together. She serves on Manitoba Supported Employment Network’s Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM) committee and Manitoba Association for Career Development’s board, as well as MACD’s Career and Workforce Development Month Committee. Amber is a certified Employment Counselor, Job Coach, Work/Life Strategist and Strong Interest Inventory Practitioner. Amber believes all should have access to equitable employment and herself identifies as a person with disabilities.

Lori Hurtig has been with Reaching E-Quality Employment Services (REES) since December 2005. Her background includes adult education, vocational rehabilitation and human resources – always with a focus on employment. For the past number of years, Lori has held various positions with REES including Employment Counsellor in both intake and marketing, and Manager of Programs and Operations. Lori has enjoyed each of her roles at REES and is passionate about the work that REES does in the community. Lori believes that because disability will absolutely affect each and every one of us, either personally or through someone we know, and can occur through the aging process, through illness, or as a result of an unforeseen event, it is imperative that all individuals have the same opportunities to participate fully in all aspects of community life.

Reaching E-Quality Employment Services (REES) promotes employment of people with physical disabilities or health conditions. For more information on REES’ projects and supports, visit: Reaching E-Quality Employment Services.
