Join your Student Integration Coordinator, Jillian, for an afternoon of information sessions about career / academic planing, funding, training opportunities, etc.

11:00AM-12:00PM: Workforce Training and Employment

  • Presenter Robert Stangl, from Manitoba Workforce Training and Employment, will highlight the various programs and services provided by WTE, including funding opportunities for education and training
  • Information will be provided about Skills Development Assistance, Self-Employment and Apprenticeship Assistance

12:15PM: -1:15PM: SEED Winnipeg

  • Presenters Farahnaz and Yemilo from SEED Winnipeg will share information about three SEED Winnipeg programs:
    1. Recognition Counts: Recognition Counts provides supports to Internationally Educated Professions wishing to work in their fields of expertise or alternative career in Manitoba. The program offers the opportunity to apply for a loan of up to $30,000 with Assiniboine Credit Union, to help with the cost of having your qualifications recognized in Manitoba and obtaining employment in your occupation. Recognition Counts also offers one-on-one financial coaching, self-guided, 30-minute financial education modules, and a live-stream financial discussion series (once-a-month for half an hour).
    2. Doing Business the Canada: Provides information about starting a business in Canada, topics include the government’s role in business, Canadian workplace standards, taxes in Canada and Canadian business culture.
    3. Immigrant Business & Enterprise Support & Training: A FREE 6-week business training, consulting and launch program, which features expert guest speakers (lawyer, accountant, insurer, lender, and experienced entrepreneurs). Classes are 3 days per week, closed group (same participants in each session and interactive.

1:30PM-2:30PM: RRC Polytechnic Administrative Assistant Certificate Program

  • Former LTC employee / current RRC Polytech Chair, Denis, and RRC Polytech instructor, Wanda, will discuss RRC Polytechnic’s Administrative Assistant Certificate program. Information presented will include:
    • Admission requirements
    • Cost and length of the program
    • Employment potential for graduates
