LTC Student Support Weekly ‘W-O-R-D-S’

May 31, 2023

LTC Students- Check your class BINGO card for a chance to win some great prizes!

This week’s words and definitions are:

1. Kurzweil:
Kurzweil is based on the concept of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) which aims to present information to learners in different ways that is accessible to as many people as possible.

The main function of Kurzweil 3000 is text-to-speech. Kurzweil has many versions available for use allowing students to have text read aloud to them, including content on the internet (and yes, that includes course content in LEARN!).

If you are looking for a way to reduce your screen time, eye strain or headaches from computer use or simply like trying new things, we encourage you to sign up for a FREE Kurzweil 3000 account!

All current students of RRC Polytech are able to access Kurzweil for free! In order to register for your account, please view the Kurzweil Self Registration guide and follow the instructions.

2. Technical Skills:
Skillss that employees possess and are specific job-related technical abilities (operating a machine, creating a spreadsheet, touch-typing, driving, dressing a wound, and so forth). Typically, these skills are relatively easy to measure and are often validated with some form of qualification.

Here are some of the support services available to RRC Polytech students: Academic Success, Accessibility, Advising, Complaints and Concerns, Counselling, Early Assist, Test and Assessment Center, Indigenous supports, IT Help Resources, Mental Health, Student Employment.
