Free Community Event: Doors Open Winnipeg

Every year, on the last weekend of May, Heritage Winnipeg presents Doors Open Winnipeg. This is a free public event that showcases Winnipeg’s architecture, history and culture. On Saturday, May 25th and Sunday, May 26th, the public will have the opportunity to visit many buildings and sites around the city and participate in a variety of tours.

Healthy Relationships Workshop-February 15

February 7, 2024

On February 15, 2024, cupcakes, condoms and education are on the menu during a lunch-hour workshop at RRC Polytech’s Exchange District Campus.

The interactive Cupcakes and Condoms workshop will be facilitated by the Sexuality Education Resource Centre (SERC) and will feature discussion about healthy relationships, consent, abuse and the connection to overall wellness. And, as the title of the workshop states, students will be encouraged to take home red velvet cupcakes and condoms.

  • Where: P107 – 160 Princess Street (The Roblin Centre, Exchange District Campus)
  • When: 11a.m. – 1p.m., Thursday February 15, 2024
  • What: SERC will be on campus to teach students about healthy relationships, consent, abuse and the connection to overall wellness through a fun and interactive workshop.

Learning Labs for Permanent Resident Students

Student Support Services will continue to offer Learning Labs for students seeking additional support! Students can drop by without an appointment and for general support in their English studies, tech support, help with MFA (Multi-factor Authentication) and any questions about using their LEARN shell, Avenue, or student email.

  • Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays
  • 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm
  • Room: A209 (Exchange District Campus)

    • The Newcomer Employment Hub matches newcomer jobseekers with employers committed to inclusive workplace practices. 
    • Newcomer job seekers who get a job through the Newcomer Employment Hub can apply for free childcare spaces for one year.

    • Offers a variety of free services to help students understand and study new material, prepare for tests, and develop study skills and intercultural competence.

  4. Mindfulness
    • Mindfulness is a type of meditation in which you focus on being aware of what you’re sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgment.  
    • Practicing mindfulness involves breathing methods, guided imagery, and other practices to relax the body and mind and help reduce stress.  
    • RRC Polytech students have unlimited access to the MindWell platform, which includes online mindfulness training, live guided mindfulness practices, monthly webinars with experts and a resource library.

Fall Market: October 11

The Fall Market will showcase a range of handcrafted items, artwork, crafts, and innovative products, all created or curated by our talented Students, RRC Polytech Staff, and Industry Partners. In addition to shopping, there will also be music, creative workshops, and various activities, ensuring a day of fun and festivity.

In keeping with our commitment to education, the Fall Market isn’t just about buying and selling goods. It’s also an opportunity for students and RRC Polytech Staff to learn new skills and participate in community engagement.

For visitors, entry is free, and all are welcome.

    • Red River College Polytechnic has two Library locations – one at Notre Dame Campus and one at the Exchange District Campus. The libraries have large eBook, print title, streaming, physical DVD and video collections.  They also have equipment that students can borrow, including laptops, data video projectors, visual presenters and digital cameras. Both Library locations feature open access computers, study space and knowledgeable staff.

  4. Voluntering:
