Reflection Rooms at RRC Polytech

November 3, 2022

RRC Polytech is dedicated to fostering an environment where all individuals are welcomed, respected, and supported to participate fully. We work every day to recognize the needs of students and employees and ensure the right conditions are in place so that each person can achieve their full potential.

In the spirit of Inclusion Week, we’d like to introduce spiritual support available for students and staff on the Notre Dame and Exchange District Campuses. The Reflection Rooms at RRC Polytech are spaces for personal or spiritual reflection, prayer, meditation, or individual contemplation. The Reflection Rooms are non-denominational spaces open to people of all religions, faiths, and/or spiritual practices.

  • Respect each other if more than one person is using the space.
  • Respect the space. If you move anything, please put it back where it was found.

  • No sleeping or napping in the room
  • No eating or drinking in the room
  • No telephone conversations, texting, attending virtual meetings, visiting with others, or using this space for small group meetings.
  • Enjoy the space. Reflect. Recharge. Renew

Our Voices, Our Truths: Student Panel on Diversity and Inclusion
  • Understanding how to value and cultivate differences is a way to ensure that each member of our community can bring their whole being into the spaces that we share. This is no easy task, as there are many barriers in place that prevent everyone from feeling valued, respected, and involved in our community. In this conversation, one of our students will share the challenges they have experienced in their lives as well as suggestions for how to create more inclusive spaces within the community.
  • Register now! ASL-English Interpretation will be provided.

November 3rd, 2 – 3pm (GM-33, NDC)

Drag Queen Story Hour with Miss Gender
  • Join us for a dynamic book reading and conversation with Winnipeg Drag Queen: Miss Gender. This conversation, moderated by Ebony Novakowski, will be an opportunity to learn about the lived experiences of this member of the Winnipeg Drag Queen community. Come with your questions, as the conversation will be followed by an interactive Q and A.

Anti-Racism Speaker Series: Addressing Systemic Racism and Ableism
  • The first step in removing barriers to access and participation for all people is to identify and address the obstacles they are facing. Systemic racism exists in entrenched practices, beliefs, laws, and policies that produce, condone, and perpetuate widespread unfair treatment and oppression related to race. Ableism, or discriminating against people with learning and living challenges, is a deep-rooted construct that often unintentionally makes it more difficult for individuals with physical and neurological differences to succeed.
  • Join RRC Polytech’s Anti-Racism Committee for the third in a four-part virtual speaker series featuring champions of equity, diversity, and inclusion in a post-secondary setting, accompanied by a moderated panel discussion designed to inspire change.
