Free Admission to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights

The Museum offers free general admission on the first Wednesday of every month from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Please note that the exhibition Mandela: Struggle for Freedom is not included in this special offer. The Level 1 Gallery is closed to visitors on free nights.

Volunteer Opportunity: Manyfest

Every year, on September long weekend, Broadway Avenue hosts one of the summer’s biggest events as 60,000+ Winnipeggers attend the popular street festival, ManyFest.

When:  Friday, September 6 to Sunday, September 8, 2019.

Where: Broadway Avenue, downtown Winnipeg

Volunteers are needed to create a fun and safe festival experience.
For 12 hours of volunteering, you will receive:

  • 4 tickets to a Manitoba Moose hockey game
  • Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Manyfest Volunteer t-shirt
  • A fun-filled weekend of meeting people and helping your community celebrate!

Deadline to apply is August 5, 2019. Spots will be filled as applications are submitted, so apply early to secure your spot!

Salsa Sundays at The Forks

The most anticipated outdoor Latin dance event of the year. Hundreds of people of all ages and dance ability join hosts Salsa Explosion Dance Company under the canopy for intro dance lessons, dance showcases and social dancing to the rhythms of live bands and DJs.

Volunteer Opportunity: Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival

The Winnipeg Fringe  is a theatre festival that takes place from July 17-28. During the festival, Winnipeggers attend theatre productions, watch live musical performances in Old Market Square and enjoy other activities such as shopping at the outdoor market.

The festival relies on the help of more than 800 volunteers to make the festival a success! Volunteers assist guests and performers, making sure everyone has an enjoyable Fringe experience. Teams of volunteers sell tickets and usher for performances at 30 venues located in the Exchange District and downtown Winnipeg; help the youngest Fringers with games and activities at Kids Fringe; assist patrons and answer questions at the Info Tent in Old Market Square plus several other opportunities.

Victoria Day in Canada: May Long Weekend

Happy May Long! This is a friendly reminder that there will be no classes on Monday, May 20th as it’s the Victoria Day national holiday.

Victoria Day is a Canadian statutory holiday celebrated on the Monday before May 25th. It honours Queen Victoria’s birthday.

To celebrate the long weekend, some Winnipeggers go out of town to go camping. Others spend time in the city, enjoying some fresh air at one of Winnipeg’s many parks.

The Manitoba Museum will be hosting a special celebration on Saturday, May 11th.
