Victoria Day in Canada: The May Long Weekend

May 17, 2018

Happy May Long! This is a friendly reminder that there will be no classes on Monday, May 21st as it’s the Victoria Day National holiday.

Victoria Day is a Canadian statutory holiday celebrated on the Monday before May 25th. It honours Queen Victoria’s birthday.

To celebrate the long weekend, some Winnipeggers go out of town to go camping. Others spend time in the city, enjoying some fresh air at one of Winnipeg’s many parks.

Enjoy your long weekend!

Thanksgiving in Canada:
Thanksgiving is a holiday on the second Monday of October. The annual holiday is an opportunity to give thanks and celebrate the close of the harvest (farming) season.  In Canada, friends and families gather for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner at this time of year which can include turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, etc.
Enjoy your weekend and surround yourself with good food and friends!
