Improve Your Writing Skills with the Academic Success Centre

The Academic Success Centre is offering a four-part online workshop series during the fall term called Writing with APA. The series presents an overview of APA and prepares users to apply APA across their writing from citing and referencing, formatting, and style. 

All are welcome to attend any or all five sessions. Participants can log on to the workshop with this link. No registration is required – just log on!   

Sessions will be held on Webex Thursdays from 12:15-12:45pm with a repeat at 3:15-3:45pm.

The Academic Success Centre is once again offering an online workshop series during the Spring 2024 term called Building Your Writing Foundation. This series includes sessions that will equip students with foundational writing skills for college success.

Description: Join this workshop to learn how to organize big ideas and details into a clear paragraph. The paragraph structure you will learn can be applied to all types of academic writing assignments, including summaries, reflections, discussion posts, essays, reports, and more.

Understanding How You Learn Workshop Series

The Academic Success Centre is once again offering an online workshop series during the Spring 2024 term called Understanding How You Learn!  

In these workshops, we’ll discuss four topics which impact learning in significant ways: the brain, critical thinking, stress, and procrastination. We will explore how these topics influence your learning and how to leverage this understanding to your time at college and beyond. Hear from both the ASC’s Academic Coaches and Peer Tutors! 

Each workshop will be offered twice on the same day: over the lunch hour and at the end of the day. Attend whichever one fits best with your schedule!

The RRC Polytech Café is the College’s free online networking and mentorship platform that connects students and alumni through virtual ‘coffee chats’ and exclusive nation-wide events with career development experts. More than 3,500 current students and alumni members have already joined the Café.

How does it work? Students and alumni fill out a profile with education, experience, and interest tags. This information is then used to drive smart-match introductions between community members every month. Faculty, employers, industry partners, and supporters can also connect with students and alumni on RRC Polytech’s hub. Check out this 60-second video to see the platform in action.

RRC Polytech Summer Youth Camps: Register Today!

Registration is now open for RRC Polytech’s week-long summer camps for kids ages 9-14, starting in July at the Notre Dame Campus. We have the following camps to offer:

·        Girls Exploring Trades and Technology Camp
·        Design Your Dream Room Camp (Interior Decorating)
·        Budding Business Leaders: An Entrepreneurship Camp
·        Indigenous Cultural Exploration Camp
·        Out and About Photography Camp
·        Wheels in Motion: A Transportation Technology Camp
·        Sweet Treats Baking Camp

Led by experienced instructors and leaders, these camps will provide youth with applied learning experiences while they have fun, learn new skills, and make summer memories to last a lifetime.

Financial assistance is available to those who qualify.
