Santa Claus Parade 2015

Are you looking for a fun, free, family-friendly activity to do this weekend? Why not head out to the Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, November 28th?
The parade starts at 4:30 pm and follows a route that begins at Portage Avenue and Young Street. It will then head east down Portage Avenue all the way to Main Street. The Parade continues south down Main Street, turns onto William Stephenson Way where it ends at Westbrook Street. Click here to download a map of the parade route.
You can also attend a variety of block parties along the parade route, starting at 3:30 pm on Saturday. Companies and organizations located on the 17 blocks of the parade route will each host a different party. There will be hot chocolate, dancing and games for the whole family! Halloween Costume Contest

Witches and vampires and bunnies, oh my! On October 30, the halls of the Language Training Centre were crawling with creepy, funny, creative or beautiful costumes to celebrate Halloween. There was a lot of laughter as students and staff paraded the hallways showing off their costumes. Many people got into the spirit of Halloween but 51 students participated in a costume contest.
A group of judges chose 6 winners who each received a prize and treats for their whole class too! Here are the winners:

Open House at the Immigrant Centre

Are you an immigrant in Manitoba? Do you know about the Immigrant Centre? Do you know how it can help you?
As part of Manitoba Career and Workforce Development Month, the Immigrant Centre will host two “Open House” events for immigrants:

November 26 (3:00 – 5:00 pm)
 
The events include a short presentation about the different programs and services they offer, as well as a tour of the building.

Free Banking Workshop for Permanent Residents

The University of Winnipeg’s Global Welcome Centre offers a series of free information sessions to permanent residents

The Language Training Centre is having its first ever Student Art Show on Wednesday, May 27!
Join us in the Lunchroom (Room D – lower level) from 9:00 – 4:00 to view beautiful art created by our very own LTC students. You can even enjoy listening to some live music – yes, performed by LTC students!
