Supporting SECD Update

April 12, 2013

As mentioned in a previous post, eTV is currently working with the new research area in Health Science and Community Services to produce a documentary about the Educa a tu Hijo (Educate Your Child) Program in Cuba. Below you’ll find a sample video that highlights some of the wonderful music and child-centered activities that will be featured in the program. To date, eTV has worked with Community Services on the Science of Early Child Development (SECD) project in many parts of the world including Latin America, Asia, and Africa. RRC Sustainability: Save $$$ and Energy in Your Home

On Tuesday March 19th, eTV, in conjunction with Red River College’s Sustainability department, streamed a live presentation by Michael Lee of Manitoba Hydro. The presentation covered the topic of being Power Smart and introduced how the “New” PAYS Financing programs can save energy and save you money!

Nursing Virtual Community

March 19, 2013

After thorough research and planning, the Red River College Nursing Virtual Community project has commenced production. This project is an exploratory and immersive on-line simulation, which provides nursing students the opportunity to interact and “walk through” a remote nursing station in the Aboriginal community of Bloodvein. Through the use of video, photography, text, and web-based resources, students will get to experience a unique nursing environment integrated with Aboriginal culture. eTV, in partnership with RRC’s Nursing Department and Health Canada, is excited for the launch of this innovative educational simulator, scheduled for September 2013.

eTV has just returned from another successful trip abroad in support of the Science of ECD multimedia resource. Through the new research area in Health Sciences and Community Services, Red River College received funding from the Bernard Van Leer Foundation (based in The Hague) to produce a documentary about the Educa a te Hijo (Educate Your Child) Program in Cuba. To date, eTV has worked with Health Sciences in several countries including Latin America, Asia, and Africa and has helped to establish RRC’s reputation of excellence in producing this kind of video material.

RRC Sustainability: What’s Your Eco-Footprint?

On Tuesday, February 12th, eTV streamed a special presentation by RRC’s Sustainability Coordinator Sue Hayduk, who discussed the concept of eco-footprints. In this interactive session, participants measured their own eco-footprint and learned how small changes in their personal lives can support a more sustainable lifestyle.

RRC Winter Convocation 2013

February 12, 2013

For the first time ever, Red River College’s Winter Convocation was held at the Centennial Concert Hall on February 5th. This special occasion was streamed live by eTV and made available to those unable to attend the ceremony in person. We ensure that all family and friends, regardless of their location, are able to share in this moment with our graduates. eTV would like to extend our congratulations to all graduates and we look forward to providing live video accessibility for future ceremonies.

Student Debt – Got You Grounded?

February 1, 2013

One of Canada’s most successful and respected financial writers, Gail Vaz-Oxlade presented a money management session entitled Student Debt – Got you Grounded? to a packed house in Red River College’s South Gym on January 16th 2013. The presentation was streamed and recorded by eTV in high definition, and incorporated eTV’s brand new Kessler crane system, which creates an enhanced range of camera motion. Through the live stream, we were able to reach a larger audience and now future viewers can also watch the presentation on the College’s Youtube channel.

The story of Makoonsag Intergenerational Children’s Centre

January 14, 2013

Directed by Jamie Koshyk (Community Services) and produced in conjunction with eTV, this video documents the design and development of an Aboriginal child care program in the heart of Winnipeg. The video highlights the community collaboration and partnerships that helped to bring Stella Blackbird’s dream of an Intergenerational Children’s Centre to reality.

Welcome Back!

The New Year is under way and eTV is back to streaming both Nursing and PCP, as well as CAE courses in the evening. 2013 will be a busy year with many exciting events and productions on the horizon. Upcoming streaming events include Convocation live from the Centennial Concert Hall, a special presentation with Canadian author Gail Vaz-Oxlade titled Student Debt – Got You Grounded live from the South Gym, and a Strategic Lunch with Cindee Laverge live from eTV’s Studio B. We are also continuing production on a number of projects including Animal Health, the Nursing Virtual Community, and SECD. Follow the eTV blog for updates on these projects and many more!
