The Applied Commerce Education degree is a joint program offered by Red River College Polytechnic and the University of Winnipeg. Graduates will be eligible to certify as a K-12 teacher with the Province of Manitoba.
Through the Applied Commerce Education program, you will build the technical knowledge and teaching skills you need to deliver applied commerce and technology courses in high schools across Manitoba.
In this program, you’ll develop important collaboration, communication and critical thinking skills, and learn to plan and deliver applied commerce lessons using Manitoba’s high school curriculum. You’ll also explore business, finance, accounting, economics, marketing, entrepreneurship, management, information technology, digital media and data analytics through a series of applied-learning experiences.
Before graduating, you will complete a series of student teaching practicums to meet potential employers, expand your professional network and build practical work experience with increasing independence.
The Applied Commerce Education program offers three different specialty programs, giving you the flexibility to find learning that fits your experience and advances your career goals.

In this joint program, offered by RRC Polytech and the University of Winnipeg, you’ll complete education courses alongside arts and sciences courses related to your teachable major, Applied Commerce Education (ACE), and a teachable minor.

In this RRC Polytech program, you will build on your Bachelor of Education and gain the expertise, practical skills and credentials you need to teach Applied Commerce Education courses in Manitoba.
In this program, you will develop an applied-learning and student-centred approach to education and build the advanced skills needed to teach Manitoba’s Applied Commerce Education curriculum.
Build foundational skills in business, accounting, finance, business technology and arts/sciences while completing your first teaching practicum.
Explore marketing, information technology and digital media while studying Manitoba’s Applied Commerce Education curriculum and completing your second teaching practicum.
Continue developing your applied commerce knowledge and teaching skills. Complete your third teaching practicum with more independence and new responsibilities.
Learn to manage classroom facilities, develop courses and plan assessments while taking on full teaching responsibilities in your fourth teaching practicum experience.
