Municipal Engineering Technology

Harness technology to support municipal infrastructure.

Learn to combine practical problem-solving skills with in-depth knowledge of engineering, construction and technology.

Municipal Engineering Technology is a specialization program. Students interested in this program must apply to and complete the first common year of the Civil Engineering Technology program.

Municipal engineering technologists provide technical support and services to engineers, architects, scientists and other professionals. Since they study a broad range of content areas, they develop a diverse skill set making them employable in a wide variety of positions. You may find work in areas of construction, design and supervision, highways and transportation engineering, water resources engineering, geotechnical engineering, and environmental engineering and protection.

In the Municipal Engineering Technology program, you take more advanced courses and build on the competencies you gained in first year. The focus is on application and design.

As part of your RRC Polytech education, you will gain industry experience through two co-op work experiences. These co-op opportunities will help you build relevant work experience, integrate experiential learning and create connections with industry partners and employers.
