RRC Polytech is proud to host its 25th annual Pow Wow to recognize the achievements of Indigenous students. Advancing Indigenous achievement is a key priority at Red River College Polytechnic, and the College recognizes the important role it plays in supporting reconciliation efforts in the province.
Please join us to celebrate our students as we send them off on their continued journeys to success. The annual Pow Wow gives our community the opportunity to dance, drum, sing, eat, connect, and participate in Ceremony.
All Indigenous students graduating in 2025 are encouraged to join us to celebrate! Full-time, part-time, students that attend regional campuses, and students graduating in Fall 2025 are welcome to register and participate in Pow Wow.
Date: Friday, May 2, 2025
Time: 10:00am – 4:30pm
Location: North Gym at the Notre Dame Campus
A stole is an academic regalia sash that is draped over the shoulders to denote academic achievement. The stole was designed with symbols for The Seven Sacred Teachings, a set of teachings on human conduct towards others. While we recognize that not all First Nations, Métis and Inuit cultures and histories recognize The Seven Sacred Teachings, our intention is to be as inclusive as possible. The stole also includes a cart to represent Métis and a seal symbol to represent Inuit culture.
In the middle of the stole is the College logo, which rests on the back of the neck. The design lays on red silk to proudly display the College’s brand colour.
Graduates can pick up their stoles when they sign in at the event registration table.
Please register online — include your name, contact information, program and student number, and indicate if you’d like us to invite your sponsor. If you have any questions, reach out to Sara McIvor-Prouty, Events Coordinator, School of Indigenous Education.
RRC Polytech campuses are located on the lands of the Anishinaabeg, Ininiwak, Anishininwak, Dakota Oyate, and Denésuline, and the National Homeland of the Red River Métis.
We recognize and honour Treaty 3 Territory Shoal Lake 40 First Nation, the source of Winnipeg’s clean drinking water. In addition, we acknowledge Treaty Territories which provide us with access to electricity we use in both our personal and professional lives.
