COVID-19 Vaccine Immunization for International Students

We wanted to share with you the responses from the Government of Manitoba’s COVID-19 Vaccine Implementation Task Force to the frequently asked questions regarding vaccine access for international students.

Does COVID vaccine access remain the same for study permit holders in Manitoba? Would vaccinated students arriving to Manitoba still be eligible for boosters if they are interested in receiving them?

Students will be eligible for boosters as per the Manitoba eligibility criteria.  Province of Manitoba | Eligibility Criteria

Would new students still have to make an appointment through the telephone service: 1-844-MAN-VACC (1-844-626-8222), or would they be able to use the online tool to book an appointment for booster shots?

In order to use the online booking system, an account needs to be created, which requires a PHIN, so if the individual does not have a PHIN, they need to use the call center for booking their vaccine appointments.

Given provincial changes surrounding proof of vaccination, should (or could) new students still apply for the immunization card?

Yes, new students are still encouraged to apply for a vaccine card. Province of Manitoba | Immunization Cards and Immunization Records

If they have any trouble with accessing their records, please direct them to this form: https://forms.gov.mb.ca/covid-immunization-record-request/index.html
