Job Search Sessions: Get Job Search Ready with Career Services & ASC – Week 1
The Academic Success Centre (ASC) is partnering with Career Services to provide a comprehensive, interactive workshop series on the development of employment documents and skills for students. The Get Job Search Ready workshops will be delivered throughout July and August starting with the following Week 1 sessions:
Introduction to Networking: July 18, 2022 @ 4:00pm
The hidden job market offers numerous opportunities that job seekers can tap into and should be complementary to advertised job searching. In this session students will learn about the hidden job market, the value of networking, identifying contacts, and how to make the proper approach with an effective pitch in various networking situations including virtual events.
LinkedIn: Growing and Engaging Your Network: July 20, 2022 @ 4:00pm
A LinkedIn profile can be a great tool to showcase one’s professional experience and achievements. Having a complete, up-to-date profile and using it to grow and engage your network is the most effective way to access the potential of the platform. In this presentation, students will learn how to build a LinkedIn profile, communicate their professional brand, find and add connections, create content, participate in online conversations, and how to provide value to their network.

Virtual Hiring Café: enVision Community Living
When: July 22, 2022 12:00pm – 12:30pm
enVision Community Living is a non-profit community-based organization committed to delivering supports and services that provide people who live with an intellectual disability opportunities for personal growth and development, and opportunities to live the life of their choosing in the community.
The session will focus on the following positions/areas: Direct Support Professional, Job Coach, Employment Facilitator, Coordinator, Administration, Internship/Work Placement.
