International Student Ambassador Reflection – Tadiwanashe Stancilas Takawira

Reflecting on my journey, I am grateful to the team at the Centre of International Education and Global Partnerships for the opportunity to learn and grow, and for their support throughout the program.

As a member of the diverse community at Red River College Polytechnic, I was inspired by the stories of fellow students. I felt grateful for the guidance and mentorship I received while seeking advice and asking questions. The program offered me the chance to share my own experiences, assist other international students, and encourage intercultural communication on campus. Throughout the term, I made an effort to communicate with students, listen to their concerns, and offer them helpful resources to help them navigate.

We enjoyed campus events that included Futsal soccer, tax informational sessions, and well-being talks. We were also lucky enough to score tickets to Jets games. A special thank you goes to everyone involved in the international center for their hard work and dedication. These events contributed to the general development and success of students by addressing various aspects of their well-being. They offered students practical tools and resources to maintain balance and resilience in the face of academic and personal pressures.

I am grateful for our program instructor Parmeet Ghatoaura and the team at the International Centre, including Della Chen and Yuko Sakurai. They have been a constant source of support for many students across campuses. I will continue to encourage students to reach out to them whenever they are in doubt.

My experience has echoed the significance of continuous learning and growth. I encourage students to consider ambassadorship for the opportunity to become better leaders and individuals. It’s a journey that challenges, inspires, and ultimately transforms us for the better.

I am deeply grateful for the experiences and opportunities offered to me as a student at Red River College Polytechnic. It has been an honor and a privilege to represent the international student community within our college.
