Changes to Off-Campus Work Hours for International Students 

Effective November 8, 2024, international students in Canada are now permitted to work off-campus up to 24 hours per week without a work permit. This applies to students enrolled full-time at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) who are in a qualifying academic program. 

Key Details: 

• Eligibility: Full-time students in academic programs (at least 6 months long). 

• Working Hours: Students can work up to 24 hours per week during regular terms. During scheduled breaks, they may work unlimited hours. 

• Requirements: Students must have a Social Insurance Number (SIN) and must ensure their study permit includes conditions permitting off-campus work. 

This update offers students greater flexibility, but it is essential to ensure that students meet all eligibility requirements and adhere to the regulations to avoid complications.
