Calculation on In-Person vs. Online Course Delivery for PGWP Eligibility
Thank you to those who attended the PGWP session. If you missed it, here are some key points to remember when planning your courses to meet the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) eligibility requirements:
- Full-Time Status: You must maintain at least 60% of the total course load per term to be considered a full-time student at the College.
- In-person Credit Hours: More than 50% of the total credit hours of the program must be completed through in-person instruction.
How to Calculate In-Person vs. Online Credit Hours:
Step 1: Review the courses and descriptions for your program. This will provide the total number of credit hours required for each term.
Step 2: Access Self-Service Student Planning in HUB and check the time and location for each course. Pay attention to whether the course is delivered in-person, online, or in a hybrid format (combining both delivery methods).
Example:
For a 3-credit hour course, you will see there are 2 hours of in-person credit hours and 1-hour online credit hour. You will record the breakdown accordingly.
Step 3: Track your courses and credit hours in an Excel sheet. Note the total credit hours for each course, and record the split between in-person and online delivery.
Note: The total credit hours for your program can be reviewed from the course catalogue for your program.
By following these steps, you’ll be able to accurately calculate your credit hours and ensure you meet the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) eligibility requirements.
