What a fun day at Camp Manitou!
Thank you to all of the students that joined us at Camp Manitou event on April 2, 2022!
Through the Canadian Connection Program, the students were able to enjoy a day full of outdoor activities. This program provides students with the opportunity to experience social, cultural and recreational activities and engage in college life and connect with the Winnipeg community.
Some of the activities we participated in included:
Orienteering: We were give a compass and had to navigate around the camp! Some expertise in math and navigation was required to locate all of the pictures of the animals.
Bannock making: We prepared traditional Bannock over a fire and got the opportunity to enjoy our creation once it was done! The students really liked eating this delicious snack topped with butter and brown sugar.
Fire building: The trained staff lead us through the safety of starting and maintaining a fire. This was a great activity as students were given the opportunity to sit down around the fire and have a chat about their program, life in Canada and form new connections!
Snowshoes: We took a long walk through the forest in snow shoes and really got the chance to experience the beautiful nature that is all around us.
Skating: Outdoor skating is a very popular activity in Canada. This event allowed students to get laced up and take a spin around the rink. A lot of slipping and sliding happened here but it was a great time.
