Work Authorization for International Students
From November 15, 2022, until December 31, 2023, you can work more than 20 hours per week off campus while class is in session if you
- are a study permit holder and are studying at a DLI full-time (or part-time during your final academic session), OR
- have been approved for a study permit but haven’t arrived in Canada yet
In addition, you must meet all these requirements:
- You must ensure IRCC received your application for this study permit (including extensions) on or before October 7, 2022.
- You must have an off-campus work authorization on your study permit.
- You must be either in Canada or coming to Canada by December 31, 2023.
You can’t work off campus without a work permit if any of these situations apply to you:
- your study permit says you aren’t authorized to work off campus while you study
- you’re only enrolled in an English or French as a second language (ESL/FSL) program
- you’re only taking general interest courses
- you’re only taking courses required to be accepted into a full-time program
- your situation changes and you no longer meet all of the requirements to work off campus

Please note, if you have a co-op scheduled to start after December 2023, you should still submit a co-op work permit application by following the instructions Co-Op Work Permit : International Education at RRC Polytech.
