Six years and counting – RRC named one of Manitoba’s top employers
Red River College is proud to once again be recognized for creating a supportive, dynamic, and engaging work environment for more than 2,300 employees who have made their career at one of Manitoba’s largest post-secondary institutions.
“When you think of growing Manitoba’s economy and driving innovation, Red River College plays a central role in moving our province forward,” said Paul Vogt, president & CEO, Red River College. “Our employees are passionate and dedicated in making a difference in the lives of our students, and we strive to make Red River College an attractive place to work and have a fulfilling career.”
Red River College has a comprehensive human resource and benefits program that has allowed RRC to continue to be recognized as an employer of choice. As part of this program, RRC has developed a variety of initiatives related to recruitment, retention, professional development, succession, total rewards, labour relations and organizational effectiveness.
As a top employer in Manitoba, Red River College provides exceptional benefits such as: a generous defined benefit pension plan; a flexible health care plan; on-site daycare; three weeks of vacation for new employees; maternity top-up payments for new and adoptive parents; telecommuting; and a paid Christmas break.
The College was also recognized for its efforts in improving environmental sustainability and diversity, which earlier this year earned a spot as one of Canada’s 50 Greenest Employers for 2015 and one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers. As an inclusive and diverse organization, Red River College also provides many different supports to staff including on site Elders, LGBTT* programs, and Ally Training.
“It’s an exciting time to be part of one of Manitoba’s largest post-secondary institutions. Construction is well underway on our new, state-of-the-art, Skilled Trades and Technology Centre, and we’re in the process of creating a new academic plan that will assist in meeting the needs of industry, our employees, and our students,” said Vogt.
Since the 1930s, Red River College has become one of Manitoba’s largest institutes of applied learning; with nine campuses located throughout Manitoba the College has positioned itself as a leader and a compelling first choice for post-secondary education and a critical source of knowledge, training, research and innovation. RRC has close to 30,000 enrolments annually and more than 200 full-and part-time programs.
Through award-winning instruction and training on state-of-the-art equipment, RRC prepares its students to become leaders in their fields, while collaborating with industry to conduct applied research and ensure curricula remain up-to-date.
