Restrictions – Assessment – Objectives

Restrictions – Here you can apply release conditions, or restrict the topic to a group when you are using the groups tool.

NOTE: You can create forums and topics from the groups tool when you are setting up groups.

Assessment –

1. 1. Grade Item – Selecting a grade item from the gradebook will create an association with the gradebook and will allow the grades to be transferred from the assessed topic to the gradebook.
   2. Rubrics – Attaching a rubric will display the rubric to the students and be available to you when you are assessing the posts within the topic.  You can use the same rubric on more than one topic.
   3. Allow assessment of individual posts – Selecting this option allows instructors to assess posts in the topic. Each user’s topic score is calculated using the method selected from the Calculation drop-down list. (Average, Max, Min, and Mode)

Objectives – If you are using the competency tool, you can associate learning objectives to the discussion topic.  More detail of objectives can be found under the competencies module.
