Fitness and Movement

Bike Share Program (NDC)

Borrow one of Campus Well-Being’s bikes to go for lunch, run an errand or cruise around the area. Our four bikes include Moose and Bear (large), Eagle (medium) and Goose (small).  Come to the NDC North Gym customer service desk during regular gym hours, fill out a waiver and pick your bike – daytime borrowing only by students and staff.

Muscle and Mobility (NDC)

Join Coach Justin Ross to build strength, flexibility, and training knowledge in this self-paced class that focuses on movement quality over quantity. All fitness levels are welcome & exercise progressions and modifications will be provided throughout each workout to accommodate everyone.

T’ai Chi (NDC and Virtual)

T’ai Chi involves the use of daily gentle exercise to improve health with a focus on breathwork. Sifu Josh Schafer teaches this longevity practice that is easy to access and yet profound enough for a lifelong engagement.

Strength and Conditioning (NDC)

These fun and high energy sessions utilize bodyweight exercises, kettlebells, dumbbells, medicine balls, bands and more for a compete total-body workout. Coach MG welcomes all fitness levels, providing exercise progressions and modifications to accommodate everyone.

Breakdancing and Hip Hop Culture (NDC)

Learn about the foundational movements of Breaking, and their connection to Hip Hop culture with instructor, Mooki. Classes will be focused around learning steps, and terminology which will provide students a knowledge base to take the dance into their own hands.

Yoga (NDC and Virtual)

Holly Pluchinski guides participants to stretch, breathe and feel good. Suitable for all levels; mats are provided for in-person sessions.

Self Defense (NDC)

Learn practical self defense techniques in a friendly and fun atmosphere. Gain confidence and fitness while adding tools and techniques to the martial arts toolkit. Taught over five independent workshops, a person can attend all or any single class, and gain benefit.

Thursdays, March 28 and April 4, 2024, 4:15pm to 5:15pm, in North Gym side court.

Beading Workshop (EDC)

Join Campus Well-Being and the Louis Riel Institute to learn how to bead a small flower! As you learn how to bead, the instructor will go over the history of the Red River Métis and why they were called the “Flower Beadwork People”.

Heart Healthy Nutrition (NDC and Virtual)

Good heart health is vital at all ages, and proper nutrition can make a difference in promoting a healthy heart, as well as reducing your risk for heart related diseases. Join Registered Dietician Hao-Yi Sim to learn all about the different way’s nutrition can benefit your heart.

Home Maintenance Series – Small Engines: Lawn and Garden (NDC)

Learn how to troubleshoot basic maintenance and repair for common garden and lawn equipment like lawnmowers. Led by a trained RRC Polytech instructor.

From the comfort of your own kitchen, Abby Legaspi leads at-home chefs through the step-by-step recipe for a Chicken BBQ Wrap. Cozy up with good food and lots of fun!

NOTE: The first 20 NDC or EDC, RRC Polytech students may request an ingredient kit to pick up from NDC or EDC. You will receive email confirmation. Student supply kits are limited, so register early.

Crafting Circle (EDC and NDC, Drop-in)

Take a break to create! Bring your lunch, some friends and drop by Campus Well-Being’s Crafting Circle. Activities and supplies provided include – knitting, crocheting, bookmark and button making, colouring and drawing.

Or bring your own project to work on while connecting and socializing with others.

Open from 11:30am to 1:30pm. You can register for a calendar reminder or drop in!

Community Garden (NDC)

Students and staff are invited to plant and tend to a community garden plot, located behind the Notre Dame Campus.

Connect with the earth as you dig in the soil, watch nature grow after planting vegetables and flowers, nurture your spirit while pulling weeds over the summer.

Share your questions and discoveries in the NDC Gardeners TEAMS group.

Then discover the exhilaration of harvesting and preparing food you helped grow.

Paint a Pot or Butterfly (EDC and NDC)

Join the RRCSA and Campus Well-Being for a night of pottery or wood painting! Enjoy some relaxing, unhurried creative time by picking a small terracotta ready-to-paint flowerpot or a wooden butterfly and transforming it into your own amazing work of art.

Shoot Out Basketball Challenge (NDC)

Are you ready to test your basketball skills? Think you have what it takes to be the Shoot Out Champion? Come show off your free throw shooting skills and compete for glory!

Register in advance for our Shoot Out Basketball Challenge and see how many baskets you can make out of ten shots. Drop-ins are also welcome.

Intro to Geocaching (NDC)

Do you love treasure hunting, exploring new places, and having fun outdoors? If so, you might want to try geocaching, the world’s largest treasure hunting game!

If you want to learn more about geocaching, join us for an Introduction to Geocaching Workshop, hosted by Jo-Ann Johnson, Vice President of the Manitoba Geocaching Association.

Geocaching is a game where you use a GPS device (mostly your smartphone) to find hidden containers called geocaches. There are millions of geocaches all over the world, waiting for you to discover them. Geocaching is a great way to enjoy nature, learn new skills, and connect with other geocachers.

Sport

Intramural sports provide students & staff an opportunity to participate in a variety of recreational sport activities on campus in a safe and supportive environment.  All students and staff are welcome. Registration is not required.
