Safety Terms and Conditions for Work-Integrated Learning Employers

RRC Polytech is committed to ensuring the well-being of its students during their Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) placements. Before students commence a placement, all employers/community partners must agree to the following terms and conditions to guarantee a safe learning and working environment.

By posting a WIL student position on Career Bridge — and/or — hosting a WIL student for any type of paid WIL, the employer/community partner hereby agrees to the following:

  1. Confirm that it maintains current coverage under the Workers Compensation Board coverage, unless exempt under The Workers Compensation Act and Regulations.
  2. Agrees to comply with Manitoba’s Workplace Safety and Health Legislation and/or Part II of the Canada Labour Code (if applicable) and all other relevant legislations.
  3. Agrees to provide adequate and appropriate direction and supervision to students and confirms students will receive relevant workplace safety training including:
    • Initial orientation and ongoing safety training prior to engaging in any new tasks
    • Instructions on the use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE)
    • Emergency procedures in the workplace
  4. Confirms that routine safety inspections are completed in the workplace and there is a procedure in place to report, investigate and resolve dangerous occurrences including hazards or work refusals in the workplace.
  5. Agrees to provide students with a safe learning and working environment, free from harassment, discrimination and violence.
  6. Any incidents involving WIL students including injuries or occurrences of harassment, discrimination or violence, must be promptly reported to the appropriate RRC Polytech WIL contact person and via email at WIL@rrc.ca.
